There are days that I would love to erase from my memory. There are also days I want to cherish in my memory for as long as I can. When things get bad, I refer to my list of things that make me happy. Here are a few...

1. Laughter. From my family, from friends... anyone laughing!

2. Crisp, clear sunny days...

3. Puppies!

4. A walk on the beach....

5. Here's an odd one... getting into a made bed with sheets that have just been washed....

6. When my son who is 5, snuggles with me on the sofa while watching TV...

So what makes you happy? Please share!

There They Go Again

Watching your kids become responsible adults and knowing that you helped do that has to be the greatest thing in the world (and Cheese Whiz, of course)

ICU Nurse

My wife

Our two crazy dogs

Our home. . . (Admittedly, it can also cause stress. But the contentment outweighs the stress.)

Composing music

Listening to the music that I compose

Taping and editing video (currently doing a lot of work-related educational videos)

Sitting outside on our front porch during the warm summer evenings and watching the sun set

Walking along an ocean beach and listening to the waves

Spending time with my mother and my father

Spending time with my nieces

Taking care of my patients

Being the keyboardist and choir-director for my church (although that role can be quite stressful sometimes!)

Laughing! Love to laugh! Humor is good for the soul!!!

By the way. . . this is a nice thread that was started. I don't believe that anyone will actually read my list of "what makes me happy". That's o.k.! But it was very nice to type and share my these thoughts. . .

Cheers. . . :-)

Take care!

Very concisely: "Seeing someone else "in the flesh" who is really, honestly happy".

Just yesterday, I finally installed the new kitchen faucet that my wife has wanted for so long. In my mind, as the old one didn't leak and didn't "look that bad", it just wasn't a priority. To see the look on my wife's face when she came home to "her new faucet", I can tell I should have done this sooner.

This is just one example of many which I realize makes me a "person pleaser" of all things, as I seem happier if the people I care about in my life are happier. And, to be around me just a little, as I'm really not a "smiley" person, that might come as a shock. One of the Ladies who I worked with long ago learned how to "figure me out" and told me "I can tell when you're happy...because you're smiling inside...". She could tell my moods too...which to this day I can't figure out. Oh well, I won't go further off topic than this....

I feel happiest, when I know I'm loved and appreciated, that makes me feel safe, which makes me really happy. It doesn't matter what's going on around me, even sorrow, but if I'm loved, it makes all the difference. Hek;)

Nice article, it is cool to read all the many things that make people happy. My list is so long that I daren't (love that non-word) try to enumerate all them here, but I will name my two favorite. My wife's laughter when I make a funny and the giggles of my favorite great niece and nephew when we get into a tickle fight. It is not much of a fight cause I get to do all of the tickling. Happiness IMO is something you choose to be, so make someone happy by showing them how.
